Danny Bryant, City of Atlanta

Day:       Thursday, October 2, 2014
Time:      12:00 PM - 12:45 PM
Room:     Moscone South 303

Have you ever received a request for a report from some legacy system that needs to be merged with your current production system? Wouldn't it be great if that data could all be in production? Oftentimes, developers need to access data on legacy systems and consolidate it with data in production. What if, as a developer, with the correct privileges, you could migrate that data from the legacy system to development without needing to involve your DBAs until tested and ready to move to production?

CON4493: Regular Expressions in Oracle 101
Galo Balda, Texas Health & Human Services (HHSC)

Day:     Thursday, October 2, 2014
Time:    1:15 PM - 2:00 PM
Room:  Moscone South 303

Oracle support for regular expressions has been around since version 10g Release 1. However, it's common to find developers who aren't aware of this powerful functionality. Oracle SQL support for regular expressions lets application developers implement complex pattern-matching logic in the database, which is useful for these reasons: By centralizing pattern-matching logic in the database, you avoid intensive string processing of SQL results sets by middle-tier applications. By using server-side regular expressions to enforce constraints, you avoid duplicating validation logic on multiple clients. In this session, we'll talk about common used operators, pattern matching conditions, and functions provided by Oracle
